Yeah, we all saw how that worked out for Syndrome.
Edna: It will be bold! Dramatic!
Bob: Yeah!
Edna: Heroic!
Bob: Yeah. Something classic, like, like Dynaguy. Oh, he had a great look! Oh, the cape and the boots…
Edna: [throws a wadded ball of paper at Bob's head] No capes!
Bob: Isn’t that my decision?
Edna: Do you remember Thunderhead? Tall, storm powers? Nice man, good with kids.
Bob: Listen, E…
Edna: November 15th of ‘58! All was well, another day saved, when… his cape snagged on a missile fin!
Bob: Thunderhead was not the brightest bulb…
Edna: Stratogale! April 23rd, ‘57! Cape caught in a jet turbine!
Bob: E, you can’t generalize about these things…
Edna: Metaman, express elevator! Dynaguy, snagged on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex!
[shouts]
Edna: No capes!
Stay away from the Thistledown equivalent of a jet intake!

I think the best quote would be from the Incredibles: “NO! No capes!”

Anything can be turned into a weapon or a handle. The cloak gives warmth and protection of a different kind. Keep on like that and she’d be fighting naked and….
Heyyyyyyy!

Also, despite depictions in comics/movies/etc, most capes or cloaks (cloaks being much more useful than thin decorative capes) were not held on the way that one is, so that particular tactic wouldn’t have worked. Most of them were held on with two clasps, (attached to the clothing underneath) or were held on by a clasp that could be very quickly released, if they were for use by anyone expecting to be fighting.
Even if it was a single clasp, and it was not attached to the clothing underneath, it wouldn’t have been anywhere near as tight as that one, as this design would make it hard to breath even when someone wasn’t pulling on it.

Hate to surprise you folks but a trained fighter can use someone grabbing a piece of clothing or body part as a way to redirect their own motion to their advantage.

Not only is Antonious correct but a trained fighter would have grabbed the cape before swinging the axe and therefore, would not have missed with the axe. As it is, he may have the cape but is out of position with the axe and his torso is wide open to her knives.

Wow, this is the most “controversy” the comic has had since Ara’s first fight. (”she’s not armored!” and “a real fighter…”)
I really like that people are interested in the comic enough to comment and stuff! Keep up the readin’!
